Stress Management and College Students

The subject of stress management and college students is a bit of a tricky one. While it is no big secret that college students are under a lot of pressure each and every day while studying, the fact that they have such a wide variety of stress sources and triggers is what makes it difficult to assess and help them.

As an example of issues that need to be tackled when considering stress management and college students, consider the fact that despite the academic pressure that the students are enduring, for almost all of the students this is their first time away from home.

Now, its not the case that the students are reliant upon their parents, certainly not in an unhealthy way anyway, its just that this is a brand new experience for them. Which, in and of itself causes psychological stresses.

Another important issue is the concept of motivation. Again, many students come from a highschool where they excelled greatly, however once they reach a university or college setting they realize that all school is not as easy as highschool and it becomes very difficult to break out of the old habits and behavioural patterns that grew throughout highschool.

Add this to the fact that many students don't even want to be at a post-secondary educational facility to begin with, and you have a very strong issues with regards to stress management and college students.

And these are only two of the many issues that students must face on an ongoing basis as they progress through their academic programs. So its not a wonder that many students are curious as to what stress management and college student resources there are.
